Rangers knew they needed a result at Pittodrie to deny Celtic the title this afternoon and they grabbed it right at the death to deny Aberdeen the points thanks to Ianis Hagi's late wonder strike in a tumultuous 2-2 draw.

Jimmy Thelin's Dons side had been in full command against their visitors, who had made NINE changes with the Europa League Quarter Final second leg against Athletic Bilbao looming large on the horizon, and they took the lead thanks to a brilliant Leighton Clarkson free-kick that caught Liam Kelly out in the Rangers goal.

Ross McCausland was sent for an early bath after two bookings with five minutes to play in the first half, but Aberdeen added a second as Shayden Morris beat his man on the right before squaring for a first-time finish from Pape Gueye.

Barry Ferguson has been used to having to read his players the riot act in his short time at the interim helm and he did so again, making a double change at half-time and switching to a back four which yielded near-instant results as Hamza Igamane twisted and turned the Dons defence before finding the far corner to reduce the arrears.

Rangers looked like slumping to another domestic defeat to hand Celtic the title, only for Romanian playmaker Hagi to coolly curl his effort into the top corner deep into injury time to silence the home fans, just moments after Cyriel Dessers had hit the post when clean through.

It's a sickener for the Dons fans, who had been hoping to climb back into third place with a win, but they remain fifth, behind Dundee United and Hibs, who play Dundee later on, on goal difference.

For Celtic, the title party will have to wait after Rangers masterminded another comeback out of nowhere to claim a point. A point though, from their remaining five fixtures, will see them wrap up the title.

It's been another madcap meeting between these two old rivals, so stick with us as we bring you all the reaction LIVE right here.

Raskin erupts in front of frothing Aberdeen fan

Aberdeen vs Rangers – as it happened (2)

Nico Raskin was snapped lording it up in front a seething Aberdeen fan after Rangers' last gasp equaliser at Pittodrie.

It was a watching brief only for the Belgian, who was saved for Thursday night's Europa League quarter-final second leg encounter with Athletic Bilbao.

He took his place in the main stand amongst the Dons punters with the rest of the unstripped Gers men. And for the majority of the game it would have been a miserable experience with the hosts cruising to a 2-0 lead and the visitors down to ten men.

amza Igamane's early second half strike offered some hope and after Kevin Nisbet saw what he thought was the clincher ruled out by VAR for a handball, Ianis Hagi whipped in a stoppage time leveller to silence Pittodrie.

And that afforded Raskin the last laugh.

Aberdeen vs Rangers – as it happened (3)

Chris Sutton has blasted Rangers' celebrations after salvaging a last-gasp point against Aberdeen at Pittodrie as 'pathetic' – and he believes it is an indictment of where the club is currently at.

Despite trailing 2-0 to the Dons at half-time with 10 men after Ross McCausland was sent off for two bookable offences, the Light Blues bit down on the gumshield to force a leveller right at the death, with Ianis Hagi curling home a delightful effort after fellow sub Hamza Igamane had given them a lifeline.

That point has denied city rivals Celtic being crowned as Premiership champions for the fourth season on the spin, with Brendan Rodgers' side now having to wait until after the split to deliver the final blow to the Gers.

Barry Ferguson's team will now looking to build on their comeback by pulling off another huge result when they travel to the Basque region to face Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Europa League quarter final.

But Sutton wasn't having any of the joyous celebrations to Hagi's leveller prompting Ibrox legend Kris Boyd to defend his old team's actions.

When will the SPFL post split fixtures will be released?

The final set of fixtures for the season will be unveiled by SPFL bosses this week as the season reaches its climax.

St Mirren's dramatic win over Ross County clinched a hat-trick of top-six finishes for the Buddies and consigned Hearts to the bottom half of the table.

hat means the champagne will be kept on ice until matchday 34, while the relegation battle at the other end of the table could go right down to the wire as St Johnstone, Dundee, Ross County and Kilmarnock scrap for survival.

The SPFL have a bit of breathing space with the Scottish Cup semi-finals taking centre stage this weekend, but clubs will be eager to learn their final five Premiership games as soon as possible for ticketing and security planning.

Celtic were just seconds away from being crowned four-in-a-row champions on Sunday before ten-man Rangers snatched an astonishing last-gasp equaliser at Pittodrie to delay the title party for at least another fortnight.

Barry relishes Shinnie 'handbags'

Aberdeen vs Rangers – as it happened (4)

Barry Ferguson admits he relishes a bit of old school "handbags' with Graeme Shinnie after a stunning Rangers comeback at Pittodrie.

The visitors looked down and out at half-time, trailing 2-0 yet again under Ferguson and down to ten-men after Ross McCausland's first half sending off.

But the Light Blues launched a second half salvo, with Hamza Igamane pulling one back before Ianis Hagi found the top corner deep into stoppage time to make Celtic wait another two weeks at least to clinch the Premiership title.

That came after Kevin Nisbet had a goal to make it 3-1 ruled out for handball and Aberdeen were left smarting as they dropped back to fifth place from third, handing the initiative to rivals Hibs against Dundee this afternoon.

That frustration was clear to see at full-time, with Dons skipper Shinnie seemingly having a word for everyone as players and staff from both sides clashed on the final whistle.

Aberdeen vs Rangers – as it happened (5)

Ianis Hagi struck a spectacular stoppage-time equaliser for 10-man Rangers to deny Aberdeen and also delay Celtic’s official clinching of the title.

The Romanian sub rifled a simply unstoppable last-gasp leveller to complete a miraculous fightback for his 10-man team at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen verdict

Rangers deserve immense credit for fighting back to salvage a draw after looking completely dead and buried at half-time.

But once again, this Aberdeen side have shot themselves in the foot at both ends of the pitch.

Thelin's side could have been out of sight at the interval but their lack of control and messy defending in the second half has seen them drop two precious points in the race for third place.

'Danilo £5million? Wow'

Aberdeen vs Rangers – as it happened (6)

Kris Boyd has let rip at sorry Rangers as a second string side lived up to its name at Pittodrie.

Barry Ferguson made nine changes to the side that drew with Bilbao and it showed as Aberdeen dominated, Gers yet again finding themselves 2-0 down in a game under Ferguson.

Despite fighting back with ten men to salvage a 2-2 draw, Boyd would happily never see a number of them in the Light Blue jersey again and defeat at Pittodrie would have meant Celtic were crowned champions yet again, drawing level with Rangers on 55 league titles.

KEY EVENT

Full-time: Aberdeen 2-2 Rangers

There's barely time for any action after the kick-off as the full-time whistle goes to deny Aberdeen the victory and Celtic the title for now.

Aberdeen had been 2-0 up and cruising thanks to Leighton Clarkson's free-kick and Gueye's finish, but Rangers hit back with 10 men after Ross McCausland's early bath, with goals from Hamza Igamane and Ianis Hagi's last-gasp finish.

Full-time from Pittodrie. Aberdeen 2-2 Rangers.

GOAL: Aberdeen 2-2 Rangers

Wow. Ianis Hagi curls it into the top corner from the layoff by Jefte after Dessers had been sent clean through, only to strike the post.

Incredible drama at Pittodrie.

Aberdeen 2-2 Rangers.

Andy MacKay

Tavernier long-throw

It's desperation station for Rangers as Tavernier hurls a long throw-in, which is won by Rangers, but Diomande's effort is blocked.

Andy MacKay

Dons free-kick

Hamza Igamane is penalised for a high boot on Dorrington which catches the stooping Dons centre-half.

There's almost a flashpoint as Diomande attempts to drag Dorrington to his feet, claiming he hadn't been caught too high, with Dons players rushing to their team-mate's aid.

Andy MacKay

Dons free-kick

Aberdeen have a free-kick after Dessers is penalised for a foul while jumping for the ball.

Anthony Evans

Doohan in no rush

Dons stopper Doohan hits the turf and jumps up on top of the ball to eat up some more precious seconds.

Aberdeen are almost there and just need to keep the ball up the other end.

Andy MacKay

Dabbagh fires home

Oday Dabbagh has the ball in the net, but the whistle had long gone for a Rangers free-kick.

Andy MacKay

Five minutes added

We are into five minutes of added time. Rangers need a goal to prolong the inevitable or Celtic will be champions this afternoon.

Anthony Evans

What drama, eh?

Aberdeen looked to have wrapped up a huge three points.

But a good spot by VAR has given Rangers a glimmer of hope that they can still take something in injury time.

KEY EVENT

VAR Decision: GOAL DISALLOWED

The VAR decision is in and the goal is overturned, having determined there's a handball by Nisbet just before he fired home.

It's back to Aberdeen 2-1 Rangers.

KEY EVENT

GOAL: Aberdeen 3-1 Rangers

And Aberdeen restore their two-goal lead thanks to their No. 9 Kevin Nisbet.

The free-kick comes in from Clarkson, Dessers can't clear it and it's a total stramash before it falls for the Scotland striker inside the six-yard box and he pokes it into the net, just under the bar.

There's a VAR Check for a potential handball here though.

Andy MacKay

Hagi booked

Hagi is cautioned for a cynical lunge on Okkels after he had beaten Tavernier all ends up and that's got the Aberdeen crowd back into full voice.

Andy MacKay

McCann booked

Neil McCann is into the book for something he's said to the referee.

Andy MacKay

Kelly claims again

Liam Kelly has looked composed at these recent corners, and he claims it again this time round, but is impeded as he looks to throw the ball out quickly.

Andy MacKay

Aberdeen corner

Aberdeen win a late corner as the ball goes behind off of Robin Propper. This is a big chance late on to seal the points, can they capitalise?

Andy MacKay

Dessers heads over

The ball is curled towards the back post, but Dessers is underneath it and it goes behind off him for a goal-kick.

He's claiming his shirt was being pulled there, but it was six of one and half a dozen of the other really.

Andy MacKay

Rangers threatening

Aberdeen are struggling to clear and the ball fizzed across from Jefte goes through to Tavernier, who volleys it back across for the Dons defence to clear for a throw-in.

Anthony Evans

A big 10 minutes ahead

As it stands Celtic are champions and Rangers need another goal to delay the inevitable until after the split.

For Aberdeen, three points will move them into third spot before Hibs play Dundee later.

Andy MacKay

Kelly claims

The Rangers keeper is out to claim the corner and tries to get his team on the counter, but the throw-out is just out of reach of Diomande.

Andy MacKay

Big block

Okkels does well to get inside Robin Propper, but his powerful effort on goal is blocked by Nsiala and out for an Aberdeen corner.

Andy MacKay

Dabbagh crowded out

Oday Dabbagh is in a dangerous position down the left but, instead of driving into the box, he hesitates and is forced wide before conceding a goal kick.

That was a big chance to create there for the Dons sub, but it's not to be.

Still 2-1.

Andy MacKay

Rangers sub

Cyriel Dessers is on for Rangers to replace Curtis for the final 15 or so minutes.

Andy MacKay

Big chance for Dons

Alfie Dorrington does brilliantly to work it to the byline and then keep it in, pulling the ball back for Nisbet who takes it first time, but fires wide.

That is a massive chance for Aberdeen to restore their two-goal advantage, but it remains 2-1.
